The Clackamas County sheriff’s department required a modern facility to securely store, process, and analyze criminal evidence. Programming for this building was critical as maintaining an identifiable and secure chain of evidence is necessary to support the justice process. The evidence building needed to support four different, mostly-segregated user groups: the evidence building staff, crime scene investigators and analysts, sheriff’s deputies, and the general public. Additionally, there were many specialty equipment requirements. Thus, a majority of our design time was spent programming and working with our primary user groups to correctly identify their spatial and material needs.
